Minneapolis

long days…

What a long 4 days it has been for me. It started on Sunday. Going out on Friday with the boys (Buus, Weber, Paul) hindered me from doing any school work on Saturday, so I had to do everything on Sunday (not good). I started my homework at 10am and didn’t finish until 3am Monday morning.

On Monday, I worked all day and left for Minneapolis at 5. We didn’t get there until 9:30. After checking into the Hampton Inn, in Eden Prairie, we went to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. The food wasn’t bad. Surprisingly, I picked the exact same meal I had when I was at the restaurant in San Fran. We got back to the hotel at 11ish.

The next day was our training. It was down town Minneapolis, about a 50 minute commute from our hotel. The training was a high overview of the development life cycle of an Enterprise Business Services/Web Services. I thought it could have been more low level for us developers, but it was still very informative. After the training, we drove back to Sioux Falls.

As we were pulling up to the bank, Brett G called me. He wanted me to go to Nutty’s for a drink because it was his birthday. Sarah and I went down there had a drink, bought him a shot and took off at 11. Yes, I was extremely tired. I am tired now. I need to catch up on my sleep before I go crazy.

Only a week left before Sarah and I leave for Puerto Rico for Pootiey’s wedding. I CAN’T WAIT!!

USDSU

Class starts up again…

Well, I just found out that my Data Warehouse & Data Mining class will only be on Tuesdays this summer. It was originally Tuesday and Thursday from 6-10pm for 6 weeks. I was dreading ‘physically’ being there at the school. I am so used to the virtual online classes, but going only once a week I can handle.

Oh yeah, I was supposed to be in San Fran this week for training, that got canceled, due to short time frames. I will definitely be there when they offer it next time. Just found out today that I will probably be down in Des Moines for Java training this summer. Hopefully, it will be confirmed soon, so I can adjust my busy schedule accordingly.

As for the fourth, it was alright. Teng, Tommy, Sarah and I started the day with a 17 mile bike ride on the trails. Wow, was I sore. I am so out of shape. After the bike ride we grilled out at Teng and Choy’s apartment (chicken waaangs, brats, and dogs). Later on that night we went to Champs, had a few drinks and watched Choy entertain people on the mic.

Updates

Updates…

Well, Vince moved to Los Angeles the same time I was in San Francisco, from June 7 -10th. I am sure he will do just fine out in L.A. Remember VP, eyes on the prize.

As for San Fran, I was there with the “You Owe Me” project team for a technical meeting with the team in San Fran, for work. The purpose of the meeting was to fulfill all the technical and business requirements for the project. My role was to represent application development, more specifically, the middleware group, i.e. IBM MQ, XML, Dialer, and VRU. But I won’t get into that technical stuff now.

All of this traveling, I am not used to yet. The week before, I was in Des Moines for a meeting on Business Services (Web Services). In addition, the following weeks in July, will be busy for me. From July 5 - 10th, I will be in San Fran again (not that it’s a bad thing). This time I will be there for training on XML/XLST with Java Technologies. It will definitely be a good time. Only two of us are going for it. And on July 25 and 26th, I will be in Minneapolis for “Building Business Services” training. I can’t complain much, free food and training.

On top of all of this, I am taking two summer courses. After this summer, I will have one class and a presentation and paper to write and I will be done with my master’s. I just need to survive this summer.

That’s it for updates. I will post some of the San Fran pictures on the next blog entry.
